‘Shahed Yaran’ Monthly Publishes Special Edition Honoring Martyr Dr. Amir-Abdollahian
According to NavideShahed, the magazine includes extensive interviews, reports, and articles exploring various aspects of Dr. Amir-Abdollahian’s personal life, political activities, and distinguished diplomatic service.
In the interview section, Seddigheh Faraneh Jalveh, wife of the martyred minister, recounts memories from their life together in an article titled “Kind and Compassionate.” Another feature, “Servant of the Nation”, includes insights from Dr. Mohammad Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, while Dr. Abbas Khamehyar discusses the late minister’s dedication to diplomacy in an interview titled “A Jihadi Diplomat.”
The final part of the special issue presents a report on Dr. Amir-Abdollahian’s speech at the Geneva Conference in support of the people of Gaza, along with international reactions following his martyrdom.
The closing pages of Shahed Yaran also include an account of his meeting with Martyr General Qasem Soleimani, as well as a bibliography of books and writings related to the late diplomat.
Born on April 23, 1964, in Damghan, Semnan Province, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian lost his father at an early age and was raised under the care of his mother and elder brother. He married in 1994 and had one daughter and one son.
From 2021 until his martyrdom in 2024, Dr. Amir-Abdollahian served as Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs. He was also Secretary-General of the Permanent Secretariat of the International Conference in Support of the Palestinian Intifada and Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly journal Strategic Discourse on Palestine.
He held a Ph.D. in International Relations from the University of Tehran and was a faculty member at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ School of International Relations. Fluent in Arabic and familiar with English, Amir-Abdollahian had obtained his master’s degree in International Relations in 1996 and a bachelor’s degree in Diplomatic Relations in 1991, both from the University of Tehran and the MFA’s School of International Relations, respectively.
Appointed by President Ayatollah Seyed Ebrahim Raisi in August 2021, Dr. Amir-Abdollahian earned the confidence vote from Iran’s Parliament to serve as the country’s top diplomat.
His professional record includes high-ranking positions such as Adviser to the Foreign Minister (2016), Deputy for Arab and African Affairs (2011–2016), Director General for Persian Gulf and Middle East Affairs (2010), Ambassador to Bahrain (2007–2010), Head of the Iraq Task Force (2005–2007), Deputy Special Envoy for Iraq Affairs (2003–2005), and Deputy Director for Persian Gulf Affairs (2002–2006). He also served as Deputy Chief of Mission at Iran’s Embassy in Baghdad (1997–2000) and as Deputy Chairman of the High Council for Iranian Expatriate Affairs.
